Every purchase we make, and every food we eat has the potential to help or harm the planet. But who says we need to feel totally guilty about indulging, every once in a while? When you get Baked for the Better, you can rest assured that a portion of your purchase is going to a local charity, so that while you’re served sweets, you’re also serving those in need.

The girl behind it.
Ever since I was a kid, this passion for baking was a central part of my life. My mother always kept the pantry stocked with flour, the fridge full of eggs and butter, and a cabinet full of exotic spices because she herself was quite the home chef. After homework was done, I would often pester my mom to teach me how to bake traditional Indonesian cookies (kue putri salju, anyone?). And when there were things I wanted to bake but she didn’t know how to, I’d turn to the world wide web for answers.
As high school came to a close, instead of pursuing culinary arts, I decided to study Public Health, driven by my desire to try to influence policy for the people. After a couple years of working at a health non-profit, I decided to follow my heart and use my love of food and baking to help raise money and raise awareness for organizations that I believe are taking direct action to help populations in need. Every dish has the potential to be a work of art. Why don’t we start holding our actions to a similar standard?
